Tracey Corderoy is one of my favourite authors, not only is she a lovely lady (My daughter and I often meet up with her at her crafty book events at Waterstone's Worcester) but she writes fantastic books. Tracey's books cover a wide range of ages, with some books suitable for the very young and others suitable for 9+. She writes about cute little animals (Willow Valley) and also horrible creatures (The Grunt and the Grouch), and some of her latest books are about a criminal gang, The Unstoppables, which are suitable for the older age range.
This book is about Archie, a cute and adorable rhinoceros, who has learnt a new word: No! It is his answer to everything - i certainly remember my son going through this stage. However, when asked if he would like a hug, he soon learns a new answer.
Archie is adorable and I loved him in his little tiger onesie. It is a great story and the illustrations are gorgeous - they would make a great design on nursery items. The style of the book reminds me of Wibbly Pig and i am sure that Archie would make a great character for a range of books (any chance Tracey?). The story teaches children an important lesson.
The book would make a great story at story time and I can hear children of all ages shouting 'No' while listening to the story being told to them. It is a well constructed story and the words and illustrations are a perfect compliments to each other.
I would recommend this as a great gift for children up to 5 years of age.
